  1. Eugine McCarthy

Also known for being a poet from Minnesota, McCarthy served in the United States House of Representatives from 1949 to 1959 and the United States Senate from 1959 to 1971. Although he attempted to secure the presidency five times, he never won. This picture was taken outside of City Hall with St. Anselm Professor William Farrell.

2. Pat Buchanan

Pictured here at WGIR Radio, Buchana was an American political commentator, columnist, politician, and broadcaster. He was an assistant and special consultant to U.S. Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan. He sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1992 and 1996.

3. Gerald Ford

Ford is the only person to have served as both vice president and president without being elected to either office by the Electoral College. Before serving as the 38th president of the United States, Ford was also the 40th vice president of the United States from December 1973 to August 1974. He is visiting Elm Street in this photograph.

 

4. Gary Hart

Pictured here with Merrimack Restaurant owners Maria Saitas and Connie Farr, Hart was the front-runner for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination until he dropped out. He represented Colorado in the United States Senate from 1975 to 1987.

5. Jerry Brown

A member of the Democratic Party, Brown served as California Attorney General from 2007 to 2011, and most recently  as the governor of California from 2011 to 2019. He was both the oldest and sixth-youngest governor of California as a consequence of the 28-year gap between his second and third terms. Upon completing his fourth term in office, Brown became the third longest-serving governor in United States history, serving 16 years and 7 days in office.

6. Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton served as the 42nd president from 1993 to 2001. Prior to his presidency, he served as governor of Arkansas (1979–1981 and 1983–1992) and as attorney general of Arkansas. Taken at  Chez Vachon in Manchester, this photo also features New Hampshire State Senator John King.

 

7. Gerald Ford

Seen here with Betty Ford, Susan Ford, and NH Governor Walter Peterson at the Manchester Airport, Gerald Ford served as the 38th president of the United States. Before his accession to the presidency, Ford also served as the 40th vice president of the United States from December 1973 to August 1974. This makes Ford the only person to have served as both vice president and president without being elected to either office by the Electoral College.

8. Mitt Romney

Romney was a prominent Politician and businessman who has served as the junior United States senator from Utah since January 2019. He previously served as the 70th Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007, and was the nominee for President of the United States in the 2012 election. 9. Richard Nixon

 First serving as the nation's 36th vice president from 1953 to 1961, Nixon became the 37th president from 1969 until 1974. He was the only president to resign from the office. Nixon is standing with his wife, Pat, and Tom Bullcock from the Manchester Police Department. 

 

10. Barry Goldwater

Goldwater was a Politician, businessman, and author who was a five-term Senator from Arizona (1953–1965, 1969–1987) and the Republican Party nominee for president of the United States in 1964. Goldwater can be seen here with a number of Manchester supporters.

11. John McCain

Pictured here with Merrimack Restaurant owners Maria Saitas and Connie Far, McCain was a politician and military officer  who served as a United States senator for Arizona. He previously served two terms in the United States House of Representatives and was the Republican nominee for president of the United States in the 2008 election.

12. Ronald Reagan

Reagan served as the 40th president from 1981 to 1989. Prior to his presidency, he was a Hollywood actor, union leader, and the 33rd governor of California from 1967 to 1975. This photo also features his wife, Nancy, standing next to him at Sheraton Wayfarer.

 

13. John F Kennedy

Served as the 35th from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. Kennedy served at the height of the Cold War, and the majority of his work as president concerned relations with the Soviet Union and Cuba. This photo was taken at Victory Park in Manchester.

14. Dwight D. Eisenhower

Pictured here on Elm Street in Manchester, Eisenhower was an American army general and statesman who served as the 34th president of the United States from 1953 to 1961. After the United States entered World War II, Eisenhower supervised the invasions of North Africa and Sicily before supervising the invasions of France and Germany.
